Wimbledon shot of the day winner Pablo Cuevas posts hilarious reaction

Pablo Cuevas is building a growing reputation for making the impossible look possible and yesterday at Wimbledon he added to his repertoire with undoubtedly the best shot of Day 1 (and maybe the whole fortnight)

Uruguayan Pablo Cuevas won his first round match at Wimbledon yesterday and in doing so has entered this years highlights reel with an audacious ‘no-look forehand’ that has to be seen to be believed.

Cuevas himself seemed delighted with the win, and that shot in particular, as he was quickly onto Twitter to respond by saying, “Beautiful victory in the cathedral” which is an obvious reference to Wimbledon being a cathedral of tennis.

Cuevas had previously been in the news for another cheeky winner against Tsitsipas at the Estoril tournament earlier this year when he played a drop shot ‘tweener’ when a simple put away looked the more obvious option.

Cuevas now plays Jiri Vesely in the second round after the Czech produced one of the shocks of the day in beating German rising star Alexander Zverev.
