I cant believe it is only day four. The existence of both day and night sessions is a real test of stamina for us roving reporters. The highest temperature today was 35.3 degrees and the womens heat policy was active right from the get-go. In fact after sleeping later than planned I had to hop on the tram to Melbourne Park rather than enjoy the usual 15-minute stroll along the Yarra River. Either way, its a cool and rather splendid way to get to the office.

Play started at 11am and British No.3 Elena Baltacha put up a great fight on Show Court 2 against the No.20 seed Am
