10. Desperate times, desperate measures
At two sets down and two-all in the third set, Tommy Haas found his Wimbledon semi-final rapidly slipping away from him with Roger Federer 40-0 up and serving for a 3-2 lead. Naturally, the German went for the ‘all or nothing’ approach, lunging to the net to scoop up a Federer drop shot, before flailing his arms wildly in an attempt to distract Federer from lifting the ball over him. It worked – Federer skewed his lob into the tramlines, prompting smirks, smiles and laughter all round…

9. Did I enter the right competition here?

Jelena Jankovic seeks solace in the net during a frustrating match at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

8. “Mum, are you there? I’ve just won Wimbledon!”
Fresh-faced 17-year-old Maria Sharapova wrapped up a career defining victory over Serena Williams in the 2004 Wimbledon final to win her first Grand Slam title. After falling to the ground, thanking the crowd and climbing to reach proud Dad Yuri Sharapov in the stands, the Russian proceeded to ring her mum to tell her the good news. After numerous attempts to get through, Maria finally gave up, and headed back to court to clasp the Venus Rosewater Dish.

7. Rafa and Roger’s greatest inspiration? Venus and Maria, of course…
During this year’s Hit for Haiti fundraiser in Melbourne, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer indulged in a little grunting as they exchanged forehands across the court. Go on boys, live it loud!

6. Monfils breaks it down
After edging out Croatia’s Ivan Ljubicic to reach the 2008 Roland Garros quarter-finals, the ever-entertaining Gael Monfils struts his stuff on the dirt.

5. Novak Djokovic ft. Victor Troicki: ‘Gypsy’
Novak Djokovic hit new heights at this year’s French Open – in the Karaoke stakes. With the assistance of Viktor Troicki, the Joker parodied Rafa Nadal’s star-appearance in Shakira’s video ‘gypsy’. Poor Rafa, he’s probably sick of this song now…

4. Dance, Dance…

Germany’s Andrea Petkovic showed off some slick moves after her wins at this year’s US Open, bringing out the ‘Petko-dance’ after her wins en route to the fourth round. In this instance, actions really do speak louder than words.

3. My famous what?
In a post-match press conference at the 2007 Australian Open, Rafa was asked whether he was experiencing any pain. His reply? “I have pain here, (pointing), in my famous ass.”

2. The proposal…
It’s every girl’s dream, right? To get engaged in elegant and spectacular surroundings? Well, Centre Court ticks all the boxes… and Steffi Graff had a fan do just that at the 1995 Wimbledon Championships. Unfortunately for her budding fan, Steffi saw the prospect of financial security as key to the deal. “How much money do you have?” she replied.

1. Andy’s “blossoming” singing career…

Andy Murray hasn’t always been entirely comfortably in the public eye, which makes it all the more surprising that he’s made a couple of attempts to take the music world by storm. Andy made his rapping debut on the Bryan Brothers song “Autograph” last November, and he also participated in this year’s French Open Karaoke, singing the Jackson 5 hit “I want you back”. The world No.4 reached pitches only dogs can hear…
