Stan Wawrinka at the 2020 Australian Open

Updated: Stan Wawrinka tournament schedule 2020

Stan Wawrinka has had a good start to the 2020 season with another impressive Grand Slam run at the Australian Open.

The three-time Grand Slam champion reached the quarter-final in the event he won in 2014. He beat 2019 US Open finalist Daniil Medvedev in the fourth round in a close, five-set encounter.

The Swiss player reached his career-high ATP world No.3 ranking in January 2014, but since has undergone several surgeries that have compromised his performance. Stan has had to have surgery on his left knee twice since 2017 and is now constantly working to recover.

Wawrinka began the 2019 season holding a position at No.59 in the ATP ranks, but successfully climbed up to No.16 by the end of the season. Will he be able to continue his impressive rise in the 2020 season or will he succumb to further injuries that compromise his abilities?
