Sharapova rolls on in Miami

Despite 14 double faults and nearly 60 unforced errors, Sharapova prevailed with a 7-5 7-5 victory at Crandon Park.

The Russian is bidding to become only the third woman to win the Indian Wells-Miami double after Steffi Graf (1994, 1996) and Kim Clijsters (2005).

"Sara is extremely difficult to play," Sharapova said. "She doesn't have the height or the power, but she gets so many balls back and stays so consistent, and does it over and over again. She is so consistent. She also has great court coverage and variety. She really makes you work.

"I feel very lucky that I'm through. She had her chances to win that second set – who knows what would have happened. I'm lucky to get to the next one and have a chance to be in the semis again."

Sharapova will face 2008 finalist Jelena Jankovic in the last four after the Serb battled past Italy's Roberta Vinci 6-4 6-7(6) 6-3.

In the second semi-final, top seed Serena Williams takes on Poland's Agnieszka Radwanska.
