Serena dreams of screenwriting

Serena Williams has certainly not let her professional career as a top tennis player derail her other pursuits of interest. In 2004 she appeared in an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and the following year in an episode of the Emmy Award-winning show ER.

Now, the number one female tennis player on the planet would like to turn her considerable talent towards writing. My dream of dreams is to write a screenplay, the 27-year-old told WTA Tour US kick-off luncheon on 3 March in New York City. I love writing. Venus bought me this book about writing screenplays so I look forward to doing that.

Music is another hobby for Serena, and indeed for sister Venus. Venus is really into music and shes really into writing, enthused Serena. I play the guitar actually. Venus plays the guitar too, so we have a lot of fun with it.

Serena was recently a guest on US chat show Late Night With Jimmy Fallon in the historic first week of the show, and the pair went head-to-head in a game of Beer Pong (see video). Im so excited. I love him! the world No.1 said of Fallon. Ive been a fan forever I even saw the movie Taxi. He has a good personality. Comedians are always great hosts. It was really a no-brainer.

Serena lined up alongside Donald Trump and her pal Ludacris, who shes teaming up with to launch a nationwide song writing competition through the rappers WeMix.com site. Together they will be searching for an original song about Serena that will be used at tennis matches and other appearances as her official theme music.

We can only hope itll be better than the Wyclef Jean music atrocity that was dedicated to Venus Williams, called Venus, Im Ready.
