Serena Williams returned to the tennis court this week after the health problems that have prevented her from contesting a competitive match since she won Wimbledon last July.
The 29-year-old American announced her return to the court via her twitterfeed, where she linked to a picture of herself serving in a bright pink bodysuit (reminiscent of the lycra-one piece worn by American Anne White at Wimbledon in 1985).
Williams’ agent Jill Smoller said the 13-time Grand Slam champion was “taking it day by day, depending on how she’s feeling.”
The American initially cut her foot on a piece of glass at a Munich restaurant, shortly after winning her fourth Wimbledon crown, and required two operations on her foot, before suffering a pulmonary embolism that required emergency surgery in February.
Williams has yet to reveal exactly when she might be fit to return to competitive action.
