Roger Federer celebrates

‘Roger Federer is still good enough to win a Grand Slam,’ says former Wimbledon champion

Roger Federer is still good enough to win a Grand Slam, says Pat Cash, but it is only really likely to come at Wimbledon.

20-time Grand Slam champion Federer is now 38-years-old, but is still going deep in the majors.

In the last 12 months, he has reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open and French Open as well as a Wimbledon final.

However, Cash, a former Wimbledon champion himself, believes SW19 is the only place he can win another at this stage of his career.

“Roger Federer has a chance – probably one more real chance – of getting one more title at Wimbledon,” he told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“I still think he is up there in the best players on grass. He’s still good enough.

”But the other couple of guys look like they are carrying on. Every tournament is different depending on lead-ups and injury.

“At this stage any little injury or setback is massive for the older guys.”

Federer has won Wimbledon on eight occasions, and was only denied a ninth last year by Novak Djokovic who just edged an incredible final.
