Andy Roddick has withdrawn from the Rogers Cup after the American admitted to “not feeling 100 per cent.”

The latest blow to Roddick’s underwhelming US Open Series campaign comes after two disappointing defeats on home soil. The 28-year-old first lost in straight sets to close friend and world No.49 Mardy Fish in Atlanta, before bowing out in Washington in round three after his first career loss to Frenchman Gilles Simon.

“Following Washington, D.C, I was not feeling a hundred percent and returned to Austin,” said Roddick, who won the Canadian Masters tournament in 2003. “As of this morning, I still do not feel well enough to compete in Toronto. I am disappointed to be missing the Rogers Cup.”

The world No.11 revealed last week that he planned to undergo tests after feeling “drained of energy” following his loss to Simon.

“Something doesn’t feel quite right,” he said. “I haven’t been feeling well for some weeks… Maybe it could be a vitamin deficiency. We will have to take a look at that.

“I feel pretty lethargic and not quite as excitable as I normally am.”

Roddick, who will be replaced by Paul-Henri Mathieu, joins Fernando Gonzalez on the sidelines after the Chilean pulled out with a calf injury.

The 30-year-old was due to return to action in Toronto following the knee injury that ruled him out of Wimbledon, but will have to delay his return until the ATP Tour reaches Cincinnati ahead of the US Open.
