Roddick puts reporter in his place in China

Never short of a quip or two in a press conference, Andy Roddick ended up royally irked towards the end of his media appearance at the China Open.
Already disgruntled after losing in straight sets to South Africa’s dangerously lofty Kevin Anderson in Beijing, Roddick was asked by a local reporter whether he is thinking about retirement, having struggled with his form and failed to win a tournament since February of this year.
“I think you should retire,” the world No.15 hit back after a moment’s contemplation, before upping and leaving on the final question to laughter and clapping from the rest of the assembled press.
The Texan may be ranked at No.15, a somewhat lowly spot by his standards, but the American only has 245 points to defend for the rest of the year and as a result is still capable of finishing inside the top 10 for the 11th straight year.
As for the sheepish reporter, perhaps he’ll be on the case of Novak Djokovic to hang up his rackets should the Serb lose two matches on the bounce any time soon…
