Robson: No expectations for US Open

The British No.1 has played just two matches since Wimbledon after hurting her right wrist in training.

The 19-year-old, who reached the fourth round in New York last year, is seeded for the first time at a major and will face Lourdes Dominguez Lino in her opening match.

However, she insists she has set no targets for the final Grand Slam of the season after her injury setback.

"I haven't been able to play since San Diego and my wrist is still taped for practice, but we've done all the rehab humanly possible in the last couple of weeks to be here, so I'm looking forward to it,” Robson told BBC Radio 5 Live.

"I kind of have no expectations going into the tournament. I think I'm playing well, so hopefully I'll win a couple of matches, but at the same time I'm also just happy to be playing.”

Robson enjoyed a giantkilling run at Flushing Meadows last season, knocking out Kim Clijsters and Li Na en route to the fourth round, a feat she matched at Wimbledon this year.

Having steadily climbed the rankings in the last 12 months, Robson is the first British woman to be seeded at a Grand Slam since Jo Durie in 1987.

"It's quite nice being seeded," she said. "I think you get priority with the cars back to the hotel, and get put on the show practice courts as well, which is a lot closer to the locker rooms than the normal practice courts. I guess that's the only thing that's different.”
