Roland Garros is still three weeks away, but the first sign of sun in Britain and we’re already going a tad ‘Wimbledon doolally’, it seems.

After the news that Anna Kournikova and Martina Hingis are set to reignite their successful doubles partnership at this year’s veterans’ doubles competition, a new partnership now looks set to make its debut in the mixed event.

British youngster Laura Robson plans to team up with Jamie Murray on the pristine lawns of SW19 at this year’s championships after the pair asked for a wild card into the competition.

And after successfully partnering Andy Murray to the Hopman Cup final in January, 16-year-old Robson, who won the junior title at the All England Club in 2008, will now attempt to add a senior mixed doubles title to her trophy collection alongside Jamie.

The elder Murray is something of a mixed doubles specialist, having triumphed at Wimbledon in 2007 alongside former world No.1 Jelena Jankovic, before featuring in the 2008 US Open final alongside American Liezel Huber.

With fond memories of the tournament herself, Robson – who was speaking at a ‘black tie do’ at the All England Club to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Robinsons Wimbledon sponsorship on Tuesday – was already thinking ahead to her return to the tournament in South-West London.

But Robson, who made the final of the junior Aussie Open for a second time in January – ruled out the possibility of a dream partnership with fellow Melbourne runner-up Andy Murray at SW19 this year.
