World No.1 Rafael Nadal and world No.9 Fernando Verdasco have joined Roger Federer on the list of those missing from next weeks Barclays Dubai Championships.

Nadal has confirmed that he will be resting a right knee injury rather than travelling to the UAE.

The Aussie Open champ sustained the injury during last Sundays ABN AMRO ATP World Tour final against Andy Murray in Rotterdam.

I am very disappointed not to be able to compete in Dubai, but the doctor has advised me to stay home and rest after the pain in my knee in Rotterdam last week, Nadal said on his website on Thursday. Nothing to be worried about but it needs some rest.

Spanish Marca newspaper has also reported that Aussie Open semi-finalist Fernando Verdasco will skip Dubai to rest an injured left foot.

Federer had already pulled out of the Dubai event because of a back problem.
