Rackets: Pro Kennex Kinetic Ki 15

Hard sell: Pro Kennex says its strongest suit is its shock-reduction system and this model is another from its range that features the revolutionary Kinetic technology. This system works thanks to thousands of ‘micro-bearings’, which are housed inside chambers around the racket head. As it swings forward, the micro-bearings move to the back wall of the frame, loading energy. When the racket strikes the ball, this kinetic mass transfers forward, adding power and reducing frame shock and vibration. Pro Kennex says the racket is aimed at all types of player and all standards and that the extra-large sweetspot (from the 105-square-inch head) will offer power, touch, feel and control.

Tennishead says: At a strung weight of only 9.7oz, this is a relatively light racket, but is head heavy, which helps the racket head gain momentum when swinging through the ball. The result is a racket that gives ample power, particularly on serve. The large sweetspot helped our testers on their volleys too. The Pro Kennex Kinetic technology is worth a try for anyone with arm problems, but the sound of the tiny micro-bearings moving around inside the chambers of the frame are off-putting for some. One mans meat and all that
