Playing in her fourth final of the year, the top-seeded Russian overcame the loss of the first set and a 4-2 deficit in the second by reeling off 10 of the final 11 games.

It was the eighth career title for the 26-year-old Petrova, who also claimed the crown at Cincinnati in August.

Petrova’s win was her second straight over an American opponent, having ended lucky loser Angela Haynes’ surprising run through the draw with a 6-1 6-3 win in the semi-finals on Saturday.
