Third seed Peng was broken just once as the world number 48 advanced to her first semi-final of the season.

The 23-year-old lost to Vera Zvonareva in Guangzhou last year and will look to reach her fourth career final in Saturday’s last-four meeting with fifth seed Shahar Peer.

Israel’s Peer, who is seeking a first title since 2006, also needed just two sets to defeat ninth seed Chan Yung-jan of Taiwan 6-3 6-1 in 77 minutes.

Japan’s Ayumi Morita, the seventh seed, beat Ukrainian Olga Savchuk 6-3 6-4 in just over an hour, while unseeded Anastasija Sevastova’s run was ended by eighth seed Alberta Brianti, who posted a 6-4 6-2 win.
