The 10th seed surrendered just two games as the world number 35 claimed a 6-0 6-2 win in 55 minutes.

Eleventh and 13th seeds Alona Bondarenko and Virginie Razzano also claimed straight sets wins against Anne Kremer and Mallory Cecil.

One seed did fall today though in the shape of Olga Govortsova, who succumbed 6-7 (3/7) 7-6 (7/5) 6-3 to Vania King in a marathon match which lasted a minute over three hours.

Elsewhere, America’s Julie Ditty beat Ayumi Morita 6-1 6-1 and Varvara Lepchenko was a straight sets winner over Galina Voskoboeva.

There were also wins for qualifiers Anastasija Sevastova, Melanie Oudin and Lenka Wienerova, while Patricia Mayr, Melinda Czink, Anastasia Rodionova, Tamira Paszek and Rossana De Los Rios also progressed to the second round.
