Nestor and Zimonjic join Bryans in Shanghai semis

Second seeds Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic became the second pair to book their place in the Tennis Masters Cup doubles semi-finals after notching up their second round robin win of the week on Wednesday.

The Canadian-Serb partnership enjoyed a comfortable 6-1, 6-4 victory over fourth seeds Jonas Bjorkman from Sweden and Kevin Ullyett from Zimbabwe at the Qi Zhong Stadium on day four of the Shanghai end-of-season event.

The result means they are guaranteed one of the two qualification spots from the Gold Group regardless of how they do in their final group match on Friday.

Daniel Nestor and Zimonjic are the second pair through to the last four after the top-seeded Bryan brothers booked their place in this weekends semis by winning their second match in the Red Group on Tuesday.

Bjorkman and Ullyett will go into their last round robin match against Polish seventh seeds Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski knowing the winner of that contest will bag a semi-final spot.

Both teams are on one win apiece after Fyrstenberg and Matkowski claimed their first victory of the week on Wednesday by beating the sixth seeds, Lukas Dlouhy and Leander Paes, 7-6, 6-3.

There will be a lot riding on Fridays match for Bjorkman who is playing his last ever tournament this week. If he and Ullyett lose to the Poles his long and distinguished career will be over.
