Nalbandian and Del Potro face Russia

Del Potro, who won four ATP titles in a row in August and September, will play his first Davis Cup match in Buenos Aires having recorded two wins and one defeat away.

World number seven Nalbandian is coming into his best form after recent disappointing performances on the ATP circuit and at the Olympic Games.

He said: “Argentina are better on clay against a lot of nations but I think that will not be the same against Russia.

“They have very good players on this surface and it will be a tough tie.”

Argentina lost the Davis Cup final in Russia in 2006 and Nalbandian admits he is looking for revenge this time.

“We were so close two years ago,” he added. “Bringing them back home is great, it’s a kind of revenge, but I think there will be no major difference between the two teams.”

“After Wimbledon, I’ve felt much better especially in the Olympic Games and the US Open. I’m playing better little by little, I’m physically fine and it’s good because we have a tough weekend ahead.”

Del Potro, meanwhile, insists he will not let the pressure of expectations get to him as he looks to maintain his recent good form.

“People want me to keep showing what I’ve been doing recently, but I will not take it as pressure but as a good thing,” he said.
