Nadal wants to end year in top spot

Nadal, 22, who this summer became the first man since Bjorn Borg in 1980 to claim the French Open and Wimbledon titles in the same year, before winning Olympic gold in Beijing, knocked Roger Federer off top spot for the first time in 237 weeks on Monday.

“I want to be number one at the end of the year and I am aware that a good result at the US Open will mathematically give me this option,” Nadal told Marca.
