Andy Murray joins Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer in incredible home Laver Cup line-up

Andy Murray has been announced as confirmed to play the fifth edition of the Laver Cup this September, meaning at least three of the ‘Big Four’ will compete at the London exhibition showpiece, with Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer being the others.

2018 participant Novak Djokovic may well make a second appearance to complete the quadruple for Team Europe.

Anyway, the addition of Murray will get fans the world over, but particularly home in the UK, excited to see the Brit in singles and doubles action during his event debut at the O2 Arena in London.

In fact, the last time Murray competed at that same stadium was back in 2016, when he claimed one of his greatest triumphs in winning that year’s ATP Finals and being crowned year-end world number one.

Laver Cup announced the 35-year-old’s involvement on Instagram on Wednesday morning, with Murray reposting it to his story soon after.

Besides Nadal, Federer and Murray, the remaining participants for Team Europe have not been set in stone.

Felix Auger-Aliassime, Taylor Fritz and Diego Schwartzman are signed up for Team World.

Team Europe have won every edition of the exhibition tournament set up by Federer and his management company TEAM8.

Last year in Boston was the most one-sided edition yet, with the Europeans winning 14-1 overall.

Right now, Murray will have his mind focused on Wimbledon as he looks to down 2018 semi-finalist John Isner in the final match on Centre Court Wednesday evening.

Murray has a 100% head-to-head with the American, 8-0, but has never faced the big-server on grass, playing seven matches on hard, four outdoor, three indoor, and one on clay at Roland Garros 2016.
