Andy Murray looked well below par in his second round 7-6, 7-5 win over Italian Andreas Seppi at the ATP World Tour 500 event on Thursday.

After the match, Murray was very honest:

“There were a lot of errors from both sides in the first set. The standard was not good. Both of us started playing better and by the second set it was really tough,” Murray said.

“Of course he had nothing to lose, but it was a battle. I played my way into the match. As there were so many long rallies I was able to improve my rhythm from the baseline.”

“It was a difficult start, with too many mistakes and double faults, but it improved in the second set,” the Briton told reporters.

“It was completely different from the first round but the long rallies on a fast court like this gave me back my rhythm,” said the Scot.

Murray will next play France’s number 55 in the world Marc Gicquel later today. This will be Gicquels first ATP World Tour quarter final since Metz in October 2008.
