It was the 10th match in succession in which the in-form Peer, 22, had not dropped a set, having won in Guangzhou last week, and she said: “That’s a nice feeling. I’m happy I’m playing well.

“I had played Akgul four times before and knew her game fairly well, but I knew it would be difficult. I tried to play my best and not give her any chances. I’m happy my father was with me these last two weeks, because I won both tournaments.”

Peer’s back-to-back titles are more impressive considering only once in those 20 sets was she even pushed beyond 6-4, when she beat Belarusian Olga Govortsova 7-6 6-2 in the Tashkent semi-final.
