Having reached a career-high 27 in the world in August 2007, the 22-year-old reached the quarter-finals in Hobart last year before equalling her best showing at the Australian Open with a third-round appearance.
“I am just looking at trying to stay healthy for a whole season,” Mirza, who will play in the JB Group Classic in Hong Kong before heading to New Zealand next week, told PA Sport.
“It has been three or four years when I have always had an injury. I have missed at least two months every year so that is going to be my first goal and to do the right things to stay healthy.
“I am just trying to get back. I am not looking ahead, I’m just looking right now at playing as many matches and getting wins under my belt to get some confidence after not playing for five months.”
Mirza was the first Indian woman to win a WTA event in Hyderabad in 2005 and break into the top 50 in the same year.
