Mirnyi & Nestor send Bryans home

Daniel Nestor and Max Mirnyi upended Bob and Mike Bryan to reach the doubles final at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals.  

The Canadian-Belarusian duo didn’t allow the American twins a single break point en route to their 7-6 6-4 triumph and will face either Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski or Mahesh Bhupathi and Leandar Paes in Sunday’s final at 3:30pm.  

Nestor also knocked out the Bryan Brothers in last year’s tournament alongside previous partner Nenad Zimonjic, before the pair went on to win the title.  

With three ATP gongs to their name this year, including the Roland Garros crown, Nestor and Mirnyi will hope for a repeat of their dominant semi-final display against the American twins in the Sunday showpiece. 

Pinching the first set on a tiebreak, the pair converted one of their three break point opportunities in the second set and proved more dominant on serve, firing 13 aces, to eight from the Bryans, before seeing out victory in an hour and 18 minutes.

The defeat sees the 33-year-old Bryans miss out on their fifth final at the year-end championships, where they were bidding for a fourth title.
