Serena Williams was the first big name back in the locker-room after a mighty battle with Chinese player Li Na, the top seed and five-time champ in Florida eventually coming through 6-2 in the third.

Later on, sister Venus made sure thered be yet another all-Williams semi-final (their 20th meeting) when she got past Czech lefty Iveta Benesova in straights.

On the mens side Novak Djokovic finally ended his awful run against Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga hed lost their last four matches and will now meet Roger Federer in the semis after he ground down Andy Roddick in a classic in the night session.
