‘I have played some good tennis’ – Daniil Medvedev happy with form despite Australian Open frustration

Daniil Medvedev says he is happy with his form so far this year as he gets ready to go again in Rotterdam.

The Russian had a breakthrough year in 2019, winning his first Masters titles, reaching his first Grand Slam final, and climbing into the top five for the first time in his career.

However, he has yet to make any real inroads in 2020, losing to Novak Djokovic at the ATP Cup and crashing out of the Australian Open in the last 16 against Stan Wawrinka.

Medvedev is not worried, though, fairly pointing out the quality of opposition.

“I think I have played some good tennis,” Medvedvev said of his start to 2020.

“I lost two really strong matches I would say, and of course I always want to win and show better results.

“But I am just trying to do my thing, stay in there and spend hours on the practice court.

Medvedev is playing Rotterdam for the third year in a row this week, and its one he is looking forward to.

“[I will] try to show the best I can in the tournament, the best during the matches and, as I say regarding the results,” Daniil Medvedev added

“Of course I want something better all the time, but if we talk about my tennis and the wins I had, they were quite good.”

“I like it here, the courts, the facilities, everything. The field is so strong.

“In Grand Slams you face great players in the later stages, but in Rotterdam you already play a Top 50 player in round one.”
