The British doubles specialist was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in December and spent six months undergoing chemotherapy at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London.

Hutchins, who is targeting a return to tennis next season, announced the news on Twitter on Monday and thanked fans for their support.

"Was a big day today, met my oncologist and I am now in remission,” Hutchins announced on his Twitter page. “So grateful to fantastic Professor Cunningham and his team [at} Royal Marsden.”

He added: "Thank you to everyone for your constant, incredible support, I couldn't be where I am today if it wasn't for all of you, I really mean that!"

Murray, who donated his prize money from winning the Aegon Championships at The Queen’s Club last month to the Royal Marsden, tweeted his delight at the news.

"Just got some of the best news I've heard in a long long time… Great start to the day! Back training properly today on hard courts,” he wrote.
