The 27-year-old, who was knocked out of the Olympic tennis tournament in the second round by Rafael Nadal, underwent a hip arthroscopy and had a hip labral tear repaired.

As a result, Hewitt will not play again until the New Year, ruling him out of the season’s final Grand Slam which he won in 2001.
