Former world No.1 Lleyton Hewitt will lead the Aussie Davis Cup squad against Thailand in March.
The 27-year-old former US Open and Wimbledon champion skipped his countrys last outing in the competition due to hip surgery but is among captain John Fitzgeralds four-man squad for the March 6-8 tie in Thailand.
Hewitt joins big-serving lefty Chris Guccione, Carsten Ball and teenager Brydan Klein on the team for the Asia/Oceania Zone second round clash.
“We’ve picked a good team that I think is capable of winning in Thailand,” Australia captain John Fitzgerald said.
Nineteen-year-old Klein was the surprise choice and got the nod ahead of 15-year-old wonderkid Bernard Tomic, who became the youngest man ever to win a main draw singles match at last month’s Australian Open.
“Brydan deserves congratulations on his continued improvement,” Fitzgerald said.
“He is progressing well in his transition from juniors and is the form player of the domestic season having won the last two tournaments. He has well and truly earned his spot”
