Health scare for Oudin

The former US Open quarter-finalist revealed she has rhabdomyolysis, which is often caused by intense exertion. 

Oudin, who upset Maria Sharapova at Flushing Meadows as a 17-year-old in 2009, confirmed the news on her Twitter feed.

"Hey guys, so my off season is a little paused at the moment cause I have gotten rhabdomyolysis,” she wrote. "I am doing everything possible for a speedy recovery. Maybe if you could say a little prayer for me that things start looking up I would so appreciate it. Thank you!!!"

The 22-year-old ended 2013 ranked at No.129, but had been ranked as high as No.31 in April 2010. She won the US Open mixed doubles title with Jack Sock in 2011 and the Aegon Classic title at Edgbaston the following year.

Rhabdomylosis is a condition in which damaged muscle tissue breaks down and can be released into the blood stream, and severe cases can lead to kidney failure.
