The 26-year-old sustained the injury in the first set of his third round contest at the French Open with Horacio Zeballos. Goffin slipped on a court-cover, rolled his ankle and was forced to retire from the match.

“I’m very sad to say that I won’t play at the Wimbledon Championships this year,” Goffin said in a statement released on his Twitter account. “The rehabilitation has been going well and doctors are positive, but I won’t have enough time to be ready for the tournament. I want to be 100%, and I can’t wait to get back on court.”

Goffin has reached the round of 16 at Wimbledon twice and he will likely aim to return in time for the North American hard-court swing which begins later this summer.
