Gasquet has begun 2013 where he left off in 2012. After finishing last season in the top 10 for the first time since 2007, the Frenchman carried his impressive form into the new year, winning his season opener in Doha and last week in Montpellier – his eighth and ninth career titles.

“I realise this is my best season start ever and I just want to keep going and stay healthy,” said the French No.2. “I [have] Rotterdam, then Marseille, which is also an important tournament in France for me.”

Gasquet set up a second round clash with Marcos Baghdatis in Rotterdam after a straight-set victory over Viktor Troicki in the opening round.

“I’m winning a lot of matches so that’s important for my confidence,” Gasquet told ATPWorldTour.com. “I think it’s a mix of everything. You need to serve well, to physically be good, mentally to fight a lot. I’ve managed to do all those things and that’s why I have [been winning].”

The Beziers native, who has managed to go beyond the fourth round just once in his 34 Grand Slam appearances – a semi-final at Wimbledon in 2007, will be bidding to win his first ever Masters 500 event in Rotterdam this week with his previous wins coming at 250 level.

“I will try to [win],” said Gasquet. “I did three finals. All the time I played against big players so it was difficult but I will try again. I’ve won some tournaments in the past, I know how to win finals. I’m really happy.”
