The former world No.7 has played just one tournament since last year’s US Open after undergoing treatment for an accelerated heartbeat in May last year.

Fish has played just one event on the ATP Tour this season, at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells in March, when he reached the third round.

The 31-year-old, who has targeted a return to action at the BB&T Atlanta Open later this month, has kept the reason for his absence private, but believes he is mentally and physically ready to return to action.

"I'm getting better health wise and just trying to use team tennis as preparation for the summer," Fish said. "I've come a long way in the past 12 months, for sure. This time last year, I was starting to struggle a little bit. We've come a long way. I'm happy where I am now and happy to be here."

He added: “I’m trying to make sure mentally I’m where I want to be.
