World No.12 Tommy Haas, who has climbed back into the world’s elite after a return to form in 2012, had been playing without a clothing contract.

“I am very excited to be sponsored by ellesse,” said the 35-year-old. “The brand represents everything positive about tennis and I’m proud to wear ellesse on the court.”

At the other end of the tennis spectrum is up-and-coming Ukrainian teenager Svitolina, who will debut her new kit in Melbourne.

The 19-year-old, who is ranked inside the WTA Top 50, demonstrated her talent when she won the French Open girls’ title in 2010.

“I love the tennis history that is associated with ellesse and it’s amazing to be following in the footsteps of some of the Grand Slam greats,” Svitolina said. “Their clothes are stylish and contemporary and I can’t wait to wear my new kit on the court.”

Ellesse boasts a rich tennis history, with the likes of Boris Becker, Chris Evert, Pat Cash and Guillermo Vilas wearing the brand.

“Ellesse has a rich heritage in tennis and we are delighted to be sponsoring Tommy and Elina,” said Marco Ellerker, global brand president. “They are talented and exciting tennis players and they also embody the ellesse brand with their attitude to life. We’re looking forward to supporting them as players and working with them to develop our global presence in tennis.”
