Murray, who returned to training in Miami this month following back surgery in September, had been due to appear at the four-man exhibition event in Barbados alongside Gasquet, Juan Martin Del Potro and Nicolas Almagro.

However, Gasquet’s withdrawal with an elbow injury forced organisers to postpone the event, which was scheduled to take place at the Sir Garfield Sober Sports Complex between November 28 and December 1.

"Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the Dream Cup at the end of this month,” Gasquet said. “I would like to apologise to all the fans there since I was really looking forward to travelling to Barbados for the first time.

“Sadly I have injured my elbow and following my doctor's advice I need to refrain from playing tennis for a minimum of three weeks. I will look forward to coming back in the near future".

"We believe it is in the best interest for all concerned to postpone this year’s event and focus on providing the unique and high quality event promised for the public and ESPN viewership in 2014,” the organisers confirmed in a statement.

“It is an unfortunate situation but circumstances resulting in this postponement are beyond our control.  We sincerely apologise to all for any inconvenience this may have caused, and we look forward to seeing you in 2014.”

Murray, whose last appearance came at Great Britain's Davis Cup victory over Croatia in September, is expected to make his return to action at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi on December 26.
