Dominic Thiem’s tournament schedule for 2019
Austrian youngster and current World No.5 Dominic Thiem will be aiming to consolidate his position in the World’s Top 10 during 2019 and then push for a top 5 or a top 3 year end ranking.
Thiem is renowned for his clay court expertise which is why he will play more tournaments on clay than most other players during 2019. He also enjoys the European tournaments so he will most likely play in some tournaments that the the big names might not enter.
The ‘Next Gen’ star is also an incredibly hard worker off the court which means his fitness levels allow him to go the distance in the brutal arena of clay court tennis. However, to earn a ranking in the Top 5 he will undoubtedly have to start performing on other surfaces especially the hard courts. Sometimes his game is too defensive to succeed on this surface so look out for Thiem changing his style this year to help him win the big matches on hard courts.
Thiem won one tournament in 2018 on the hard courts of St Petersburg so he will almost definitely return there to defend his title and his ranking points.
