Novak Djokovic motored to a 6-3 6-4 6-2 victory over Kevin Anderson to ease into the third round at the All England Club.

The Serb encountered few problems and sped past the 6’8” South African in an hour and 54 minutes to set up a third round tie with either Andreas Seppi or Marcos Baghdatis.

Unbeaten until the French Open semi-finals in 2011, Djokovic had stormed into a 5-0 first set lead before Anderson finally managed to assert his serve, but the 25-year-old was never given a chance to settle as the two-time Australian Open champ’s returns did the damage.

“I returned really well today, I think that was key, this is one of the important elements in my game in order to be successful,” said Djokovic, who glided through the ensuing two sets, despite never entering top gear.

He attempted to catch Anderson out with a flurry of drop shots in the final set, but appeared to underestimate the South African – a surprisingly proficient mover for his height – and reverted back to penetrating dagger-sharp groundstrokes to get the job done.

“I think every tennis player is looking for perfection all the time,” added Djokovic. [But] I’m really satisfied with the performances I’ve had in the first two rounds.”
