The Serbian was made to battle in the first set but stepped up a gear in the second as he sealed a 7-5 6-3 win over the fourth-seeded Spaniard.

Djokovic had secured his place in the final with a tense 3-6 7-5 7-5 victory over Gilles Simon, while Ferrer brushed aside the challenge of unseeded Frenchman Richard Gasquet, winning 6-2 6-2.
