Clijsters downs Radwanska for sixth semis berth

Kim Clijsters completed the women’s semi-final line up at the Australian Open after beating world No.12 Agnieszka Radwanksa 6-3 7-6.

Though distracted by a flyover of planes above Rod Laver Arena as part of Australia Day celebrations, Clijsters kept her head to move into the last four in Melbourne for the sixth time in her career.

“I didn’t feel that great today,” admitted Clijsters during her on-court interview with Todd Woodbridge after the match. “I felt heavy in the legs.

“I think the planes took me up higher,” joked the Belgian, who admitted she had been a little wary of the air-show as the planes flew overhead.

“It was a little scary actually,” she said. “A couple of times they were flying a little low over the stadium so I was happy to see them go over!”

In her pursuit of her first Grand Slam title other than the US Open – and her fourth overall – Clijsters faces a semi-final clash with Vera Zvonareva in a repeat of last September’s US Open final after the Russian defeated Petra Kvitova in straight sets earlier in the day.
