Chris Eubanks - Wimbledon 2023

Chris Eubanks reveals who he believes is the ‘GOAT’

Chris Eubanks has revealed who he believes is the greatest men’s tennis player of all time, with the Wimbledon quarter-finalist weighing up the options between Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer.

Eubanks has had a euphoric rise this year, highlighted by his run to the last-eight of Wimbledon in his first main draw appearance at The Championships.

Before his newfound success, the 27-year-old was often on commentary duty for the Tennis Channel and now Eubanks has offered his expert knowledge to Amazon Prime when asked about whether he believed Djokovic was the ‘GOAT’.

“Yeah, I think so. Personally. In just my opinion. The thing is GOAT conversations are so subjective,” said Eubanks. “It all depends on what you like. Federer changed the way tennis players were viewed globally. He was a global icon. In terms of just being a tennis player and titles, records, weeks at being number one. He [Djokovic] has the numbers.”

Eubanks continued, “Some might say Federer meant more to the sport and I’m not really going argue with you on that, if that’s what your tennis GOAT means. Mine is just the best all around tennis player. You can take a tennis player, drop them on any surface against any opponent.”

Djokovic leads the men’s Grand Slam count with 23 major titles after his triumph at Roland Garros this year, closely followed by the absent Rafael Nadal on 22 and the now retired Federer with 20.
