The second-seeded American duo triumphed 7-6 (7/5) 7-6 (12/10) after a hard-fought clash with their seventh-seeded opponents.

The victory marks the second US Open title for the Bryans, who have claimed the doubles championship at all four majors.

Their first US Open crown came in 2005.

The 30-year-old twins had gone without a Grand Slam title since defending their Australian Open championship in 2007.

“This feels unreal,” Bob Bryan said. “Words can’t describe how it feels, this is as good as any (Grand Slam title) we’ve ever won. We love playing in New York.”

With the victory, the Bryan brothers also regained the number one doubles ranking.

Paes had been seeking his second doubles title in as many days after teaming up with Zimbabwe’s Cara Black to win the mixed doubles title on Thursday.

The 35-year-old had accomplished the feat once before, claiming the men’s title with fellow Indian Mahesh Bhupathi and the mixed doubles crown with American Lisa Raymond at Wimbledon in 1999.
