There were smiles all round for the Frenchmen in action on Super Saturday as Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Gilles Simon and Gael Monfils progressed to the fourth round during the day session – and looked to be enjoying their time out on court.

But it was a different story for les dames, as Amelie Mauresmo and Virginie Razzano were dumped out of the Open by Victoria Azarenka and Dominika Cibulkova in quick succession. No probs for Serena Williams though – she wrapped up a fairly routine win over Shuai Peng earlier in the day.

Our blogger informs us that it’s a bit chillier in Melbourne today – try telling that to Mario Ancic! The Croat looked to be in desperate need of the Aussie Open’s new favourite fashion accessory as he found the going tough against Simon.

It was certainly chillier come the evening session, when Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray underlined their status as genuine contenders with wins over Tommy Haas and Jurgen Melzer. See what our blogger made of Murray’s latest exploits here.
