Rafael Nadal defeated compatriot – and friend – Fernando Verdasco in the men’s singles semi-final. It was an exhilarating match that lasted a history-making five hours and 14 minutes.

Serena and Venus Williams won their eighth Grand Slam doubles title together, defeating Ai Sugiyama and Daniela Hantuchova in straight sets 6-3, 6-3.
