British number three Josh Goodall’s tournament ended at the second-round stage by experienced Croatian Ivan Ljubicic.

Goodall competed well with the big-serving Croat but one break in each set proved enough for Ljubicic to win 6-3 7-5.

Fifth seed Mikhail Youzhny was beaten 4-6 6-4 6-4 by France’s Julien Benneteau but fourth seed Fabrice Santoro reached the quarter-finals with a 4-6 6-4 6-1 win over Robby Ginepri.

Eighth seed Guillermo Garcia-Lopez is also through to the last eight thanks to a 6-4 6-7 (0/7) 7-6 (7/3) win over Yen-Hsun Lu.
