The Londoner and her partner Kristina Barrois were defeated 6-1 6-2 by Anna-Lena Groenefeld and Patty Schnyder, the 11th seeds, on Court 14.

Keothavong, 25, was thrashed 6-0 6-0 by top seed Dinara Safina on Monday in the first round of the singles.

Earlier, Britain’s Sarah Borwell, partnered by Maria Kondratieva, was also dumped out of the women’s doubles in the opening round, Severine Bremond and Julie Coin beating them 6-2 6-3.

Borwell, from Middlesbrough, had qualified for the tournament as a lucky loser.
