The 15-year-old Briton required medical treatment during the third-round match and eventually lost 6-2 4-6 8-6.
Robson was in obvious discomfort during a first set which Lemoine easily won 6-2.
But a series of double faults by the Dutch 17-year-old allowed Robson to break serve and take the second set 6-4.
Second seed Robson was in trouble again in the final set when she allowed Lemoine to break her serve in the opening game.
When Robson sent a vital return into the tramlines it allowed the Dutch teenager to break her serve again and take a 4-3 lead, which soon became 5-3 as Lemoine held.
Another poor return into the net from Robson handed Lemoine three match points, but amazingly the youngster saved them all to keep herself in the contest and win the game.
Robson, two years younger than her opponent, then summoned the courage to break Lemoine’s serve and level the scores at 5-5 and she appeared invigorated as she held serve to go into the lead.
But it did not last long, with Lemoine holding serve and then forcing Robson into another over-hit return to go 7-6 ahead.
A beautifully executed lob then gave Lemoine three more match points and an ace ended the contest in her favour.
