After all the talk about the womens game needing a leader, someone who is worthy of the top ranking, we reckon the WTA Tour might have found the right girl.

One French Open.

Two Wimbledons.

Three Australian Opens.

And now three US Opens.

Nine grand slam singles titles. Thats some resume, as the Americans would say.

One things for sure Serena is a suitable candidate to take over from Ana Ivanovic.

And judging by her comments, shes ready to rule for some time.

“I feel like I have a new career. I feel so young and I feel so energised to play every week,” she said after Sundays final.

“I feel there’s just so much that I can do in my career yet and I’ve never felt like I’ve played my best tennis.”
